Newberry Habitat La Pine Project With Lutheran Thrivent Completed
Newberry Habitat in La Pine competed a project in conjunction with Lutheran Thrivant Financial.
La Pine resident, Chris Riggs has now got a new look for her home in North La Pine. Lutheran Thrivent Financial paired up with Newberry Habitat for Humanity a couple of months ago to repaint the Riggs home as part of their program to help people who need to work on their homes.
Chris, a widow, and a very busy member of La Pine’s Community Kitchen and her church, qualified for the help and Steve Krebs, the General Contractor for Habitat was assigned to run the project. Krebs ran a small crew of volunteers to prepare the home for painting and then did the vast majority of the work with an assist from those core people and from the home owner and her son, Scott.
“Every time I look at it, I like it better,” Chris told us. “The colors are modern and it feels good to have the job done!”
The project included a new roof and exterior paint job. Over the two months, various stages were completed. Now that the work is done, Chris can enjoy her updated home. She gives a big thanks to the Lutheran Thrivent folks, (Bob Vogel and Peter Pagel), and the Newberry Habitat people (Dwane Krumme, Steve Krebs, George Spielman and Rod Juranek) for their help and all the hours they spent on the project.
